Homeless Students and Families
Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (Pennsylvania ECYEH) Program was established to make sure homeless youth have access to a free and appropriate public education while removing barriers that homeless children face. Its goal is to have the educational process continue as uninterrupted as possible while the children are in homeless situations.
English as a Second Language
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides a rich learning environment that is student centered, developmentally appropriate and content area integrated. It includes the following:
- Facilitates the student's achievement of English proficiency through the communication skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Effective and meaningful participation in regular education and progress toward achievement of academic standards.
- Acculturation process in a complex society that is multicultural by exposing students to customs, traditions and expectations of their new environment.
Gifted Education
In accordance with the Board of Education's philosophy to develop the special abilities of each student, the district provides gifted education services and programs designed to meet the individual educational needs of identified students.
