Senior Project Timeline

  • In the event of a non scheduled school closing (snow day, etc.) the work is due the next day that school is in session.

  • By October 1st of the senior year
    • Schedule a conference with your faculty advisor(s) to review progress to date.
    • Bring your logbook to the conference if you have started logging hours.
    • Meet with your advisor(s) at least 2 more times prior to February 15th. Bring your log to the conference each time (minimum of 4 total meetings with an advisor). Automatic credit for remaining meetings is given once you have presented.
    • -or- submit completed logbook and Formal Presentation Form to an advisor by October 1st to present on October 5th.


    By October 5, 2007
    • Early-bird presentation date, with self-reflection essay due for early-bird presenters due to an advisor by October 12th. Not Yet Successful logbooks and self-reflection essays are due back to an advisor within 2 weeks of being returned to you for corrections.

    November 9th and January 21st: Tentative Presentation Dates
    • A portion of these teacher in-service days, or other school days as scheduled by the Senior Project Coordinator will be reserved for students to complete presentations.
    • Completed logbooks and formal presentation forms must be submitted to an advisor at least one full week PRIOR to the presentation date, with the self-reflection essays due within one full week AFTER the presentations. Not Yet Successful logbooks and self-reflection essays are due back to an advisor within 2 weeks of being returned to you for corrections.

    By December 21st of the Senior Year
    • Research paper is due to Mr. Powers for grading. For papers to be considered 'on time' they must be submitted prior to Christmas vacation. Refer to the research paper rubric for all guidelines..

    By February 15th of the senior year (disregard if completing early-bird presentation)
    • Project hours must be completed!
    • Submit completed logbook to Faculty Advisor (This is the FINAL date to receive credit for a completed logbook).
    • Submit Formal Presentation Form to Project Coordinator or Faculty Advisor.

    By early March of the senior year
    • IF YOU HAVE NOT PRESENTED-recieve presentation appointment time and location for your presentation (during PSSA testing and/or the March 20th teacher in-service). ..
    • Invite your resource person/mentor to attend your presentation (not mandatory).

    PSSA Test week or March 20th Teacher In-service of the senior year
    • Make Presentation to the Faculty Adivor Committee.

    Within a week of your presentation.
    • Submit your self-reflection essay to an advisor

    April 18th Teacher In-serivce of the senior year
    • Make-up day (in the event that the March In-service day is cancelled or interrupted)
    • Re-present not yet successful presentations.

    By mid-May of the senior year
    • Notification of your project's final evaluation (highly succesful, succesful, not yet succesful.)

    Final grade report of the senior year
    • Students evaluated as Highly Successful or Successful will recieve a P(pass)
    • Highly Successful students will be recognized at the Senior Awards Ceremony.
    • Students evaluated as Not Yet Successful will receive an F (fail) and will not be allowed to participate in graduation activities or recieve a diploma.
    • Summer School will be offered to complete an alternate Senior Project for seniors wishing to receive a Montrose Area School District diploma.
